Thomas Ford & Sons gained a reputation for creating beautiful kitchens and living spaces for homes within SW London and the Home Counties. The business was founded by Ian Ford and his eldest Son Tom, it then developed quickly including the original fitting team, whom are now Directors. Their furniture is designed in the south, by Tom Ford and created in the north by the talented TF&S factory team. With the company and Factory growth, they are now looking to expand into new markets.

Creating beautiful kitchens and living spaces for homes in the UK

Thomas Ford and Sons is based in Ripley, Surrey and founded by a father-son duo with a passion for home interiors, design and craftsmanship. We believe the kitchen is truly the heart of the home. Whether you are hosting a dinner party for ten, having a friend over coffee or helping your children do their homework while you cook dinner, you want a cosy, functional and inviting room to enjoy these precious moments in.

Our kitchens are the perfect solution. Each room is designed to meet our client’s particular requirements, with thoughtful features making them a joy to use. We design and craft beautiful cupboards, rather than fitted units, so our kitchens have a freestanding feel, creating a sense of space without forgetting the need for safety and practicality. We offer bespoke cabinets, pantries, worktops, island units, as well as boot and utility rooms, creating beautiful yet practical spaces. We have installed kitchens across London and the South East.

Our work speaks for itself so we gain a large proportion of our clients through word-of-mouth referrals and have been steadily growing since 2013. Because of the nature of this type of project work, we often have to cover some upfront costs before invoicing, therefore we have some loans we are seeking to consolidate. Moreover, we opened our own manufacturing plant this year and intend to use the raised funds to facilitate several new projects we have lined up in the coming months, to continue to expand the family business.

Credit commentary:
The directors are providing personal guarantees, this means that if the business fails, the directors become personally liable for the loan. The directors are all homeowners, however, this does not ensure there are sufficient assets should the loan need to be recovered. There have been no CCJs for the business or directors. We have performed our assessment on recent financial information, including management accounts, which were not available to Equifax. The bank statements demonstrate reasonable affordability and the accounts remain well in credit.

Covid Resilience:
The general findings of surveys show that the majority of construction related businesses have been hit hard by COVID-19. Thomas Ford and Sons Ltd. has moved through challenges presented and is proving good resilience.
