Investor’s Guide to Buying on the Secondary Market

The game changer for investors that allows you to diversify your portfolio or exit investments early.

1st December 2023

The Crowd2Fund Small Business Exchange gives investors the ability to list an investment, set a sale price, and sell the investment to another registered investor. To ensure comprehension of the exchange mechanics and trading risks in the marketplace, investors go through a brief questionnaire.

In this article, we'll explore the intricacies of the secondary market and answer some frequently asked questions.

How are trade calculations made on the Exchange?

All trade calculations are divided between the seller and the buyer based on their actual loan duration. Full details on trade calculations can be found here.

How do I buy investments on the Exchange?

Step 1. Log into your account.

Step 2. Find and select the Exchange button on your homepage.

Step 3.  If it is your first time visiting the Secondary Market, you will need to fill out the investor questionnaire.

Step 4. After completing the questionnaire, you will have access to the marketplace page. Here you will find a detailed list of all the loan parts that have been put up for sale. You’ll be able to quickly see the asking price, the remaining duration of the loan, the expected return on the investment, and the closing date of the sale. When you see a loan part you like, simply click on it to access its detailed sale page.

Step 5. If you wish to purchase this loan part, simply click the Buy button. After clicking the Buy button, you will be taken to the contract page, here you will need to sign and agree to the terms and conditions should you wish to proceed. After agreeing, choose your payment method, and ensure that you want to purchase this claim, simply click ‘I agree to the terms of this investment’ to sign the agreement. The loan will be added to your portfolio, and we’ll email you a copy of the loan contract. You’ll also be able to access this in your portfolio.
